The concept of Primary Health Care has stimulated new approaches, not only in basic general care, but also in various specialised clinical disciplines.
Clinicians challenged the usual practices of their respective disciplines, advocated more emphasis on preventive measures and considered critically accesibility and cost effectiveness of their usual therapeutic procedures.
DSE had the privilege to host two workshops of oral health experts and public health specialists from the field and from more theoretical backgrounds, who place themselves in this tradition of rethinking health care practices.
The results of the workshops and the reports from numerous country experiences are published in the present volume.
